The people whose side yard is across from my house have two Maltese. They have the mobile groomer come every month to bathe them and trim them, etc. I am sure that costs more than what I pay for Dolly & Desi’s clothes. But they get the staining around their eyes too. However, Sonny (the male) and Dolly get along quite well, and he is really the only dog that she seems to have some feelings for! They have a female now named Abby and so we tease that we can have a double wedding – Dolly & Sonny and Desi & Abby.

Of course the Maltese is a high maintenance breed anyway having hair not fur. Too expensive for me. There are many kinds of long hair dogs and if the poop always got stuck, people wouldn’t want to own them. I had just thought of this because I was watching Dolly poop yesterday. She was where I could see her side. She was pooping and I saw that it really doesn’t come out too far. The last couple of days when I see Dolly pooping, she pretty much can do the whole thing in one place. Before her surgery it was a big ordeal for her…she would start to go and then for some reason she would walk in that hunched position and then finish the job at a different location. The couple times that I have actually seen her pooping…after she was much better from the surgery…I saw her and she did the whole thing in one place. I think maybe something with her belly and the hernia – before it got worse – made it difficult. When I think of her with the hernia and having to hunch up, I think it must have been so uncomfortable. Only once did I find a dry marble size poop stuck to his back side, which I clipped off. I always check when I bathe hime but no poop, his aim must be good. I think that except for pictures on this group, I have never really seen a long-hair Chihuahua. I know that I have seen Emiliano’s photos, but never one from behind. OK…Here it goes…Do you ever have to clean the fur on his backside after he goes poopy? I know that when I watch Dolly & Desi it usually falls a tiny bit away from their butts, but he has a lot of fur on the rear end.
