Good. These little ones make every day so much easier for me to get
through. No matter how much pain that I am having, or how sick, I have
these two little bodyguards right by me, and then they do silly things to
make me laugh. When they are sick or injured, it is me that they want to
cling to. I want to give them the best life that they can have. Getting
Desi to play with Dolly did not work out exactly like I wanted two years
ago, but they are so sweet together now. I can do stuff around the house
and they will be right next to each other in the recliner and when I watch,
Desi may be licking Dolly's face and then she turns and takes one of her
little legs and gently pushes Desi's face to where she wants him to clean
her next. She loves that and I know that is 'alpha dog' behavior. He loves
to give and she loves to received. However, in case someone is challenging
me on this, I am the Alpha of the house, and they both know that, but
between the two of them, Dolly is the one that decides what to do next, to
come and fink on Desi for taking a shoe or a plastic wrapper from a
popsicle.and there have been a few times when she has come to me and wanted
to go in her area - and went right to the bed and turned so that I couldn't
see her face. I was clueless why she wanted to do that, and then I found a
little poop pile on the floor in the living room..she came to me so that I
could punish her.and I think that is pretty deep. I have never hit either
of mine, when Desi was a puppy we had a few times where he was rolled over
when reprimanding him for doing something unacceptable, then I would just
roll him over and be telling him what he is not supposed to do.those times
have been so long ago. A few years ago, I used the water squirt bottle, and
as much as I don't think that would be effective, it really is. I hadn't
had to use the bottle for over a year, but Dolly & Desi want to go outside
and there are distractions such as people in the next yard, dogs barking in
the next yard, birds flying over the yard.Dolly & Desi will bark and yap. A
couple weeks ago, I got the spray bottle and opened the door with it in my
hand. They both look at me and then they just sit down in the patio chair
and that is the end to their barking. If Desi is around the side of the
yard and I call him - if he doesn't come, I say 'water bottle' and here he
comes.then he sees me holding it and he slows down, looks for Dolly, and
then jumps into the chair she is sitting on, or next to her on the puppy
cot. I was surprised that they remembered the squirt bottle, but it must
really be a good training aid.

Do you live in a house? If you do, you could just make a little game of
throwing something when she is outside and has gone potty. So she goes
potty, and her reward is chasing after something.

I can't wait until summer so I can try throwing stuff outside! Seems it
would be so much fun.

Dolly & Desi have had a lot of Frisbees. I guess I got some of them from
pet fairs, but they are really too big for them to play with. I have had a
few toys (not sure if I would call them a Frisbee) that were a hard rope
circle that had a fabric that was three cornered.I would throw that and they
would pick it up and bring it back many times. The will fetch their stuffed
toys when I throw them too.

Does anyone here have their chi fetch frizbees? Just checking to see if
one of those little soft packable frizbees might go slow enough for our
Chihuahuas. Right now Ceci is fetching a small cat bell ball.

Hi Carolyn,

I send my email through my email account. I am sure that sending from the
Yahoo page is probably about the same.

I have the option of Attaching a file, or Inserting a picture. If I want
the picture to show in the message, that is when I choose to insert a
picture. I don't just attach a picture file often, but normally when sends
me an email with an attached picture, it shows up as an attachment and then
I can click on the little box that says attachment and the whole picture
shows. Then back to clicking on the box that says Message and then the text
shows.

Do you send your emails directly from the Yahoo website, or do you use
Outlook.

Let me know and I can go to my Yahoo Account and then be able to tell you
the best and easiest way to do it. BTW, I lived in Escondido for 37 years
before moving to North Las Vegas a little less than four years ago.

I'm Carolyn and I live in rural Lakeside, California, in San Diego County.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your older dog.

I'm owned and trained by 3 wonderful pals; a 12 yo 26 pound
Staffie/Corgie/Doxie mix named Joe; a 6 pound rescued black and tan chi; a
3.8 pound foster angel chi named Emma Rose. Her story is so incredible. I
won't take up the space here, but try to check the archives.

BTW, having this little treasure is like getting a Christmas present. I
opened the wrapping and absolutely loved what's in the box, but I can't play
with the "toy" inside for another Whole Stupid Week...................
She's in her third cast and has been restricted to complete cage rest 24/7
since Friday, Jan.13th. I'm trying to stick to this pretty ridigly because
I want her leg to heal right. It will be worth it in the end. Yeah I know -
patience is a virtue, but I wanna play with my new toy now! LOL.

I tried attaching a picture of Emma Rose, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it
right. Joan, maybe you can help me.

Welcome to you and your little one. You'll love this site.

Carolyn, Joe, Koby and Emma Rose

Hi All! I'm new at the list and am curious where you all live and what you
do and all that sort of thing.

I live in Central Oregon where today it is snowing a very wet, warm snow.
Slush all over the place. I much prefer colder snows. Deep enough to bury
my wee Ceci today if I let her outside, which doesn't happen here unless
someone is with her. We have hawks and eagles and coyotes, and the
occasional cougar, so she is never outside without a keeper.

Sometimes I really wish for a warm winter home somewhere in the south
states, but it isn't financially possible. I am still working long past
retirement. Type appraisals for a guy that lives and works in Sacramento,
CA.

Have really loved all the pictures of your babies! We have just one dog
now. Usually have a large outdoor dog to keep coyotes, etc away, but none
now. Our last guy died last summer of old age... Hard to see them go.

Well, how's about finding out about you guys...
