A week after Dolly’s knee surgery, I had been over at Judy’s with her. I was just walking out of her house and I heard a man’s voice calling a dog to come back. I thought it was the voice of the man across the street with a Maltese, but it wasn’t. This 30 lb or so dog came running up Judy’s sidewalk to her house and Dolly was screeching. When that dog got close to Dolly, I think that Dolly bit the other dog. When a Chihuahua is frightened…they can bit the bigger dog sometimes.

Oh Sue good point....I too had to do that with my Liza - altho thankfully the dog coming towards us was friendly (Liza prefers people but isn't aggressive towards other dogs- but this dog was barreling towards us like a bulldozer I wasn't sure how Liza was going to react). She was 10x Liza's size - I didn't know if this was friendly - and the guy yells 'oh she's friendly' - (but how did he know that my dog was friendly)? I was nice to him - but did politely mention what if my little dog wasn't friendly? He said 'I doubt your little dog would've had a chance then'. OMG - I wasn't so nice after that statement and gave him a piece of my mind; we never saw him or the dog again in that area... Oh man can I identify with that. Has happened so darn many times. Thank God for the "up elevator"..I used to walk both of them when I had a double lead but after so many instances of other dogs ...I had to stop that. Now that I have three it is even more difficult the walking..Luckily we have a big yard. _____ From: Susanne Defoe <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, March 9, 2012 7:54 AM Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] First time ever with a Chihuahua pup... :0 Collar issues?? One other point in defense of harnesses; We were walking in a park and a very friendly looking Lab mix raced up dragging his Flexi leash and attacked one of our boys. Fortunately my husband was able to haul him up like a fish using the leash and his Puppia harness. Had he not been able to do that I am sure Rico would have been bitten more severely or my husband would have been injured reaching down to grab Rico. They are prone to trachea problems. She just needs to get used to it. I placed one on her today and her personality changed straight away. I left it on for the afternoon and then recently just removed it as she just stays still or scratches at it. Suggestions? =
