This is just a question…no blame to anyone for anything… As the animal control officer did you have to murder dozens and dozens (if not hundreds) of pit bulls, mixes, and other breeds? ( I cut and pasted so that I didn’t mis-quote)
Was it because the shelters were full, or was it because that many had bit and maimed? I think that as ‘regular citizens’ you see only what is happening in your neighborhood. But as an animal control officer you see a much bigger picture. I know that not all dog attacks are on the 5 o’clock news or in the newspaper, but I also know that there are many dogs in shelters that just don’t get adopted out – if it is not a no-kill shelter. Whatever the reason, I know that has to be very hard. I was an Animal Control officer for Montgomery County, OH. I was Customer Service Manager for Anchorage Animal Control in Alaska.
