A valid question. In my case, our state laws prevented us from adopting any pit bull type dog out so all of them were euthanized. Puppies, adults, old dogs, didn't matter. If it looked like a pit, we had to kill it after the mandatory 3 day hold. I only recall 2 or 3 (in 2 states and over many years) that were impounded for attacking anyone.
