Pam, why don’t you and Carey take this discussion off list? We have been
asked several times by other members to cease this discussion. So taking it
off list would be better

Thanks
Sheila

Yes Maam..and making darn good progress not just here in Florida. One area
we have branched out in as it seemed to go hand in hand with pit and other
aggressive breed attacks was the prevalent home insurance fraud by
aggressive breed owners. I myself had to pursue damages in small claims
court in three separate cases I was involved in because the owners failed to
inform their insurance companies that they owned pits. No surprise there as
few insurance companies will have anything to do with insuring this breed.
So the owners just lie, then when their dog attacks or kills, they are not
insured for it. A very mature, responsible attitude. So we as part of our
campaign, compile lists of known pit owners and send them to insurance
companies to update their records. Amazing how much fraud is going on in
many states.

Yes, "pit bull types" are the only "breed" mandated to be killed in Ohio
simply for being born. The state has recently repealed that law and replaced
it with a generic (non breed specific) vicious dog law....however there are
people like Pam who are trying to have it reinstated. Disgusting. As far as
I am aware, Denver, CO is the only city on the country who is allowed, by
law, to TAKE YOUR DOG AND KILL IT if it is *suspected* of being a "pit bull"
.....someone on here got offended when I mentioned Hitler and the holocaust.
.and while I would never equate a dog's life to a human's, when you start
banning, legislating, and/or killing something based simply on it's heritage
you are indeed falling down a very slippery slope.....

Were the pit bulls the only breed that had that mandate to not adopt?
It is sad that bad people make it that they ‘brand’ all of the type of dogs
to be mean. I know that not all of any breed are not mean…just like I know
that not all people that are mean are bred to be that way. Blaming a
heredity gene for a dog to attack surely would not make it for a mean person
to never have any children, or let those children do jobs such as nurse,
doctor, etc.
