Yes indeed Pam! Besides 2 Chi’s and 3 cats I do have an Umbrella cockatoo, a Congo African Grey parrot, a Double Yellowheaded Amazon parrot and several smaller birds. Parrots and Cockatoos are soooooo smart. Parrots and Cockatoos can a.o. things, for instance be very manipulative! They can bite, scream or whatever to maniputate their owner(s). All my pets know though that “they don’t run the show, but I do” (very well said Pam!). If they would run the show it would be very unpleasant.

That's how it has to be with all animals. On 11/9/2012 8:09 AM, Pam Dean wrote: IMHO, I don't care if a dog is 3 lbs or 300. They are dogs and need structure and rules. The more Alpha you are the more secure they feel. If they are sure you will protect them they have no need to protect themselves. Chis and other littles are famous for fear biting. But if they feel safe, they will not. I can bring any of my four to the Vet and they have never growled or bitten anyone no matter what is being done to them. Everyone loves and mushes them there and they respond in kind. As far as food aggression, if you have dogs inclined to that, then you are setting them up for failure if you continue to feed them together. Why not avoid that and separate them?? Peace in the Valley. With four, there is always maneuvering for top spot with me..which is fine. but if anyone growls or gets cranky, they are removed immediately from my lap and lose their attention privileges. They don't run the show ..I do.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Rebecca mailto:[email protected] To: mailto:[email protected] mailto:[email protected] Sent: Friday, November 9, 2012 7:10 AM Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] biting dogs Have to put my two cents in on this topic. Kids have been mauled over food they've dropped and a food aggressive dogs wants. Also I truly see zero reason for not training. Even for your on personal liability. Also a trained dog is freer and happier. I believe every dog is trainable. My good friend trains last chance aggressive dogs. Sometimes they stop by on the way to the vets to put the dog down they Are so hopeless. He has a 100% success rate! The dogs respond every time! It is possible! C. Milan is very good btw. Bill Koehler's book is better! Rebecca Sent from my iPhone On Nov 9, 2012, at 1:31 AM, "Pam's_Notes" <[email protected]> wrote: I just want to tell you about a dog that would snap at people. My sister in law had a basset she got from the shelter. It was a snapper, food aggressive dog. One day the basset who was getting a treat from her, bit her in the face. She inspected the bite to find it had bitten her bottom lip off. She had to get plastic surgery, the dog was destroyed. Personally, I won't allow any animal to bite. You can train them not to bite, if they are untrainable then I wouldn't have them in my home, but I've never seen an animal that didn't respond to training. The animal trainer on TV is fantastic. Gosh it's late & I forgot his name, but he's Mexican and tells you how to be the ALPHA. I love that guy & his ways with animals. Pam
