I forgot to add that most Chis love to burrow, so blankets on the bed are also a good idea.

If your house is kept on the cold side, then a light weight t-shirt can be put on your dogs, you can also look for a warm pad to put on their bed, there are some that use electricity and some that use a heated pack (perhaps stuffed with rice and warmed in a microwave) inserted into the pad. Google and see what available in your area. We've never had any small dogs before, let alone small dogs with a single coat. Can anyone provide us with some guidance as to their "climate" requirements? I understand that they need protection outdoors, but what about indoors? will they do OK in a relatively cool house, or does it need to be kept warm? how warm? We live in northern New England. thanks! Jan So glad you are considering the rescue of older Chihuahaus, often they get overlooked.
