Did not mean to offend - perhaps your relationship with shelters is different from mine - I work with a number of rescues, going into shelters to "pull" dogs, matching them with potential adopters, knowing for every ONE I pull a hundred are pu t to sleep.
You really need to consider that folks mentioning the need to "fix" every "breedable" dog are NOT attacking YOU. I know I wasn't. Though actually, as time goes on I have less and less concern for the "people" involved in our pet overpopulation holocaust (because that's what it is), and less patience. There ARE low cost or free neutering programs available on many places.... if you tell me where you are I will help you find out what your options are. Until then, I am afraid I will have to tell you, honestly, that I have just seen (too many times) folks on lists like this "bemoaning" the fact that they have a dog in heat and using that to seek out breeding partners. NOT saying that is what's happening in this case.... but forgive me for putting the dogs first, ok?
