I'm sorry, but when I first decided to get into (pit bull) rescue, I faced a GREAT DEAL of "prejudging" - and ALL of it was justified.
Going "on the defensive" where dogs are concerned is ALWAYS justified. Just because I WAS/AM a 100% reliable and honorable "do gooder" did NOT mean the folks who "looked askance" at me were (in any way) "wrong". QUITE the contrary. It meant thet were willing to be "politically incorrect" if it decreased the risk to a defenseless animal. When someone hits a public forum with their "oh no my dog in heat oh no I just found an intact mail" they should be looked at as a scammer or potential abuser" until they prove otherwise... the dogs deserve that much. The "bad guys" outnumber the "good guys" 10-to-1, and the good guys WILL stick around to understand and forgive. Time to grow up and not get all offended so easily.... when I taught school I saw some GREAT educator go to the wall and risk their reputations/careers on the CHANCE one of their kids was being abused/molested, and there was NO WAY they could have or should have done otherwise.
