Hello,

Where abouts are you applying the ESD? (case, window etc.?)

What is the kV you are applying?
What type of ESD is it?

My limited experience would suggest:

1. If you are applying ESD to a case, then it sounds like your case is not
providing a good enough earth path for the ESD to flow.
ESD takes the path of least resistance - and it is your job to provide this.

2. Add ESD protection components. Varistors?

Kind regards,

Hello chipdir members,

Any bright ideas how to prevent an Atmel 89C1051 from latch up through ESD?
It is an existing PCB. I'm testing the ESD performance with a piezo element
from a gaslighter.

Kind regards,

Elbert Smit.
