Make sure that there is a Linux driver for your printer BEFORE you buy it. I'm using a Lexmark Z53 with no problems under Linux, but I don't do a lot of printing. > When you buy three colour & one black cartridge for a Lexmark, it runs > to nearly the price of the printer. Ditto HP with the newer models. Actually Wal-Mart has had printers on sale that cost LESS than the ink cartridge. At that point the printers become throw-a-way items, or good parts for robots. > cheapest to run (remember those ribbons?) but noise rules it out. If you do homemade PCB's for example, that LASER is required. Also is speed an issue with you? You may find it is cheaper per page to buy two different printers, and dedicate each to specific types of jobs. -- http://www.softwaresafety.net/ http://www.unusualresearch.com/ http://www.bpaddock.com/ -- Author: Bob Paddock INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fat City Hosting, San Diego, California -- http://www.fatcity.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB CHIPDIR-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
