I love HP inkjets. They are a great source of stepper motors. My company bought a boatload of HP inkjets for the marketing/sales people. The ones where the jet nozzle and the cartridge are separate. Within a year I began seeing them tricking down the dumpster. Dried up nozzles, broken ribbon cables, etc. I have a Lexmark 3200 inkjet printer at home. I bought it 3 years ago and so far a good printer. I used to buy original Lexmark ink cartridges until I figured that refilling them myself was waaaay cheaper. Declan's post reminded me of another post in slashdot.org about how some inkjet printer manufacturers added some smarts on each ink cartridge so after so many cycles, the cartridge would stop working, even if it was refilled. I remember reading that Lexmark started this, and following darwinian evolution, some aftermarket cartridges appeared without the timebomb. Lawsuits followed where Lexmark alleged copyright infringement on their smart chip technology. I buy my ink from stratitec which gives you instructions on their web site on how to reset the smart chip on some Epson cartridges.   I wonder if anyone has had this problem refilling cartridges, or whether this is something that should be factored in when buying a new ink jet?   Tony
