I like the highlighting idea but perhaps adding an option that would allow the user to choose their own colors might be needed? The simplest way to achieve this would be to let the user insert the hex number of the color they wish to use. An easier way (for the user) would be to add in a standard color palette to choose from. Of course this kind "choose your own color" type of feature could be added later via an extension.
