I would say we do it. I would like to see statuses of checkins "live". Instead of no sort of notifications in the build bot page other than the auto refresh. I personally like to learn from others on how they do their fixes. And it is kinda cool to see it in the channel (like most other open source projects) and #chromium is a development channel, so it fits its description.
