Oh. Well, I have it on for third party code on the Mac. I like it that way, and I recommend it. Maybe more Linux developers don't like it, and that's why it's off on that platform. Or maybe it's just an accident of history. I wouldn't want to change it without support (or at least apathy) from a few of the core Linux developers.
