at least in non-english languages, this is not possible without
looking very bad. "Save as" for example is translated to German as
"Speichern als" on windows and as "Sichern unter" on OS X ("Save as"
is in the page menu, so this is something that's on all platforms, not
a os x-menu-only thing). As far as I remember, even apps like Firefox,
MS Office, and Adobe apps get this right. Do you want to disallow
different translations between platforms?
If so, people will hate that. If not, then your argument becomes invalid :-)
