Based on previous discussions on this topic, I don't believe Google
will change it... nor will the Chromium developers... but I do believe
that once an add-on mechanism is available, people will be able to
customize these aspects as they see fit.

What I did to try to avoid the madness was I turned the home page
button on, and I got used to clicking the home page button when I get
to the last tab, rather than clicking the close tab button.

In any case, it still gets a bit frustrating... Chromium is supposed
to be intuitive enough to not get in the way or even be noticed... but
every time this happens, I am very aware of Chrome/Chromium...
