In either FireFox or IE, you can display bookmarks in a column to the left of the browser pane. This is a very useful functionality, since it does not require a separate window be open for bookmarks.
A workaround that achieves this in Chrome is to establish one dummy directory at the highest level of Bookmarks, set the bookmarks bar to display, and then put *all* the bookmarks and bookmark directories in that one folder. Then when you mouse on that one folder, you get the same organized list of bookmarks. Thanks for the consideration.
