Actually, I thought you *can* do that in Chrome as well.  In the
Chrome Bookmark Manager there is a search box in the top-right corner
which filters bookmarks as you type (like FF) and also Chrome's
Omnibox/address bar filters/suggests from bookmarks (like FF).
Stephen, am I misunderstanding something from your post?

However, I do agree with Ted that making the Bookmarks window a
"dockable" window or sidebar is definitely needed.  If an existing bug
report for that does not already exist, it should be submitted at:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/entry

Stephen, when you say "toolbar support" do you mean user-created
custom extension toolbars?  That will probably come with:
http://dev.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/extensions
