Out of curiosity, was Neilson attacking Churchill from the Right? It seems
that much of the WWII revisionism comes from the Right (though not all, the
mainspring of American WWII revisionism, "No Clear and Present Danger," was the
work of Bruce Russett, who I think can be fairly described as coming from the
moderate Left). Partly this is anti-communism trumping all other concerns,
partly from the non-interventionism of the traditional Right and partly,
frankly, from the fact that there is some sympathy to some of Hitler's goals
(not genocide, but a certain residue of anti-Semitism on the part of the
paleo-Right and the fact that many on the paleo-Right see neo-conservatism as a
"jewish" hijacking of the movement).

In any event, it is true that Hitler saw the British Empire, eventually, as
being an ally of Germany. Hitler's unpublished "Second Book" imagined that
Hitler's successor would eventually fight a war against the United States, with
Germany and Britain being allies. But you have to wonder what an "alliance"
with Nazi would look like -- probably like the alliance between the Nazis and
their client states during the war or between the USSR and the Eastern European
states.

Anthony
