There's no predefined rules about how two opens of the same file work
in relation to each other, that's all controlled by the applications
and nothing is enforced by OS, file system, or CIFS/NFS servers.

I can also access and change the files on my ubuntu machines. This is all
working well, except that Id also like to be able to write files from the
OpenSolaris machine. Do you think its wise to have everyone using one account?
It seems like there might be some issues that might arise if two people open
the same file. Generally as I understand it, if two users open the same file,
the first person who opened it has write access and the second person has
merely read access. Is this the same with one account? Or should I just
create several accounts that have global access.
