Hello Everyone;

I'm running Kubuntu 5.10. I installed Cinelerra from a the package cinelerra-2.0-1.i386.rpm after using Alien to make it a .deb package. I used Cinelerra fine for a couple of weeks. I even rendered a couple of short movies with different codecs to play around and they played back fine.

I now have a problem that Cinelerra has stopped playing back any sound. All my other applications still play sound fine. I thought it might just be a problem with sound playback in Cinelerra, so I re-rendered one of my playing projects and didn't get any sound in the rendered file either. I can open the original unmodified avi file, and try to play it back, and there is no sound nor do the sound level meters move at all.

I'm sure I must have done something wrong, but after playing with it for a week and reading everything I could find about why the sound may have stopped, I admit that I'm lost. I'm using the sound settings for OSS and pointing at /dev/dsp which works with other applications. If I change it to Alsa and leave it on default device, Cinelerra just closes when I start playback. I have tried removing the package and reinstalling it just in case that would help, to no avail.

If this is the wrong place for asking such a question, please forgive and point me in the direction where I should post.

   Thank you for any assistance.

Billy Jr.
