1. Have you tried using the ubuntu package that's been made and see if that
changes anything?
No, I couldn't get it (the Ubuntu Package) to work in the beginning, so
that's how I ended up on the RPM.
2. Have you tried killing artsd and then running cinelerra? Also if that
works you can run "artsdsp cinelerra" which will give cinelerra access to
arts if that's the problem.
I tried this per your request, but no changes in behavior.
3. Do you have gnome or another window manager installed to see if it's a kde
specific problem?
I don't have another one installed, but I'll check it out. But MPlayer,
Audacity, amaroK all seem to work fine, so I wonder if it's a sound
device problem or just something I've messed up in Cinelerra.
Ok, here is some new information. I tried switching Cinelerra to ALSA.
When I did that, it just closes when I try to play the file. This is
the only file I have worked with, and it plays fine with MPlayer setup
on ALSA (including the sound). Here is the message, the start of it
anyways it's long, that I get when I start Cinelerra from the command
line with ALSA setup, and try to play the file.

After that there is more, but basically Cinelerra crashes.
I'm not a Linux expert, but dang. Please don't take that
to think I don't appreciate anyone's help or this program
either. :-)
Thanks,
Billy
