Ok, I removed that file, and went back in. My test clip didn't have
sound still, but I have another clip now that is working fine with
sound. All the clips have sound in mplayer, is it possible to have some
kind of codec issue with Cinelerra that would cause video to playback
but sound not to? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. I've had codec
issues before in Windows, but I don't know how Linux identifies codecs
for each application.

You might try removing or renaming ~/.bcast/Cinelerra_rc
This is the file it consults to get your defaults. If there's
something grievously wrong in there, it might be responsible for your
sound problems. Once you remove the file, restart Cinelerra and you
should have a clean slate to test from.
