Thanks for the info. By "a lot of time" I meant having to install a ton
of dependencies on Fedora Core 3 to get the latest to work.
Yes, that's always an issue with cinelerra.
Actually, I personally use FC5 and am using the livna, updates, extras
and core yum repository, I seem to recall getting away with purely
installing all the libraries required from these repository, (though
would want to double check) and then running ./configure && make (well
actually the configure command has different CFLAGS for each machine I
run cinelerra on..)
I also have Gentoo boxes which I don't trust the emerge versions of Cinelerra
dependencies to work with so I compile all the dependencies I need from
source.
I don't know much about gentoo, maybe you should trust it, and if it
doesn't work then work, let the people maintaining the packages why it
doesn't so things get fixed..
