I am just about to upgrade to a XEON dual core 2 GHz Dula CPU IBM server with 8 GB RAM, 7900 <-not sure exactly which card to buy.
Will Cinelerra take advantage of the 4 cores or is that inherent to linux SMP? Also what would be a great card to get. I was originally thinking Nvidia 6800GS but after trying the 7600GS in another machine with blender and 4550000 verts I think that I need something a lot better. I know the Quatros are good but can a high end consumer game card give you better performance for the money? If not why?
