Aaron, I use a Debian SID. I prefer to compile my own kernels. So I recompiled it with the SMP option. One had to select that option in order to see 2 processors. I think the upgrade will greatly increase my productivity. It's so faster than I can now display my video in the composito without having to render it before. On my "old" projects made with cinelerra, I did not used huge picture. It was then possible to play the video in the compositor without any problem. But since I use those large pictures, I had to render the video to view it since it was too slow in the compositor. As for the rendering, since there are 2 processors, cinelerra uses one, and mpeg2enc (I render into mpeg2) uses the other one. What surprises me is the fact that both processors are not used at 100%. Now that dual cores processors are affordable, I think people using Cinelerra often should consider that solution. I will probably save me a lot of time!
