I had so much trouble installing Cinelerra under Edgy Ubuntu that I had to
install a second hard drive in my computer and install SUSE 10.2 on it,
because Cinelerra is simple to install with the openSUSE repositories. All
the repositories you need are right there on the openSUSE site. I do like
Edgy Ubuntu a lot, and I still use it for lots of different aspects of
producing the Digital Tipping Point film. But this one aspect of Edgy was
troublesome.

I actually also downgraded from Feisty to Edgy, due to problems that I was
having running some video packages on Feisty. I don't remember which ones,
sorry. So maybe downgrading from Feisty to Edgy will solve a few of your
problems as well.
