I would like to install Cinelerra with synaptic in Ubuntu 7.04 feisty.
How do I get synaptic to find it. If I can find it I can install oK.

        I went to the site:
<http://www.kiberpipa.org/~gandalf/ubuntu/README>
        and followed the instructions.

        It took a few attempts to get the "deb" repository entered correctly,
and I don't remember if I entered it through synaptic or not. I think I
had to edit the sources.list file manually using sudo privileges. Be
careful doing this. I entered the whole line for my processor type
including the ./ at the end. It seemed to work.

If it seemed to work then it probably did...if you had it wrong then you wouldn't be able to install cinelerra and apt would complain when you tried to reload the packages list.

If you use synaptic there's an another way besides manually editing sources.list. Start synaptic and open the Repositories dialog (on the Settings menu). On the "Third-Party Software" tab click the "Add" button. Paste in whatever apt line you have (probably "deb http:// giss.tv/~vale/ubuntuopengl/ ./")

Wether you've put it in sources.list manually or used the GUI, click "Reload" and cinelerra should show up on the packages list.
