I'm wondering to what extent you think extern libs might help (hopefully
the answer is "a lot"). I'm presuming that Cinelerra grew up in a world
where there was a paucity of such libraries - so had to do a lot of
things itself. When I looked at the code that does the reading, I
couldn't help thinking that "there's too much of it", and appears to be
handling a lot of stuff that I might expect an external library to deal
with. I admit, though, that my perception is likely to be uninformed.
Taking a very fleeting glance at the cin3 code, I noticed that there
were standard GPL notices in them. I think this is a good idea, as it
could well save some complications down the line.
