I published the patch to the list, but it's still less than half-finished. I will be glad to team up with anyone brave enough to test the new functions with different hardware, so just drop me a line, anyone.

I now have a ShuttlePro2. building c-cv cvs. where is this patch you speak of?

Your dmesg looks fine. I've attached the patch. But I guess it won't work out of the box.

I'll try to apply it later today. need to do some work outside while the sun is up :)

To find out about your controller, please run 'aconnect -l -i' and see if you can find your device.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ aconnect -l -i
client 0: 'System' [type=kernel]
    0 'Timer '
    1 'Announce '
        Connecting To: 15:0
client 14: 'Midi Through' [type=kernel]
    0 'Midi Through Port-0'

You should also be able to find an according '/dev/snd/midiCxDx' device node.

close...

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls /dev/snd
controlC0 hwC0D0 pcmC0D0c pcmC0D0p pcmC0D1p seq timer

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/dev/.static/dev$ ls
agpgart fd midi0 mpu401data ram10 ram7 smpte1 tty4
audio full midi00 mpu401stat ram11 ram8 smpte2 tty5
audio1 kmem midi01 null ram12 ram9 smpte3 tty6
audio2 loop0 midi02 parport0 ram13 random sndstat tty7
audio3 loop1 midi03 parport1 ram14 raw1394 stderr tty8
audioctl loop2 midi1 parport2 ram15 rmidi0 stdin tty9
console loop3 midi2 port ram16 rmidi1 stdout urandom
core loop4 midi3 ptmx ram2 rmidi2 tty xconsole
dsp loop5 mixer pts ram3 rmidi3 tty0 zero
dsp1 loop6 mixer1 ram ram4 sequencer tty1
dsp2 loop7 mixer2 ram0 ram5 shm tty2
dsp3 mem mixer3 ram1 ram6 smpte0 tty3

plugged/unplugged it while 'watch -d ls' no change.

After that, you should use 'amidi -d -p <your port>' to dump raw midi data from the device and see if it meets your expectations.

im stuck. from what i can tell, i have no port. or at least i don;t know what it is.

If you send me that dump along with comments when you did what (turn left, turn right, push button), then I can configure the patch accordingly. The MIDI control/key switch statement can be easily found in the patch, so you might even change the patch yourself.

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask if anything's unclear.

Thanks - looking forward to it.
