I have not used Cinelerra for sometime, but Linux is always near to my heart, and the lack of a robust NLE has always saddened me, so more power to you all for the work you are undertaking.
Apologies if this has been raised before -- A thought: Ardour is a growing, robust DAW -- should you consider using it as the base for Lumiera? Sonic Foundry did that very successfully years ago with Vegas (now owned by Sony). The audio/DAW model is a suprisingly good fit for video (I have used a number of NLE's and Vegas is streets ahead of the others, IMHO). I just figured that so much of the engine and the framework is already there, the design is good and clean, and it would give you a head start. Just a thought. I wish you well.
