Dear Cinelerra mailing list.
I don't know if this is the place to go, but Cinelerra is amazing and when
I heard the plan for Lumiera, I felt obliged to contact.

I think there is a strong need for a open source thumbnail based video
editor like imovie08. I don't think we need to go into to much about apple's
video editor, I'm sure you know what it does (and what it doesn't)

I just want to point out how important the concept is, because it makes the
entire process of editing so streamline. Rendering doesn't happen really
until you finish the whole project and you just need one render out...

I just think at this point thumbnail based editing is imperative, and could
be easy. Many already do this to some degree, editing smaller compressed
files and then applying the edit marks to the identical higher definition
files.

I say conventionalize it. make it standard practice for cinelarra to make
thumbnails out of your clips for you, using your preferred thumbnail codec,
-open source.

I feel very strongly about this, and see this as potentially what reappy
brings Cinellerra to the masses. A video program capable of quick
easy renders cuts and edits and color correction as well sophisticated time
mapping, chromakeying and other effects.

as simple as imovie, as sophisticated as avid or final cut...

well thanks if you read this, I hope it happens... It's about time...
