Thanks for the LAD reference. That's just the right answer, IMHO.

Of course I see Richard's point but still I think it's completely wrong.
Seems like this list like it is now is not that open as the name
implies. Or how on earth would a new and talented developer learn about
it. How could he or she draw from all the wisdom previously shared on
the list? Not at all, period.

Of course I'm subscribed to LAD for quite some time and yes, I'm mostly
reading. But what's the deal? If I was to ask a general question on
usage or so I could write to LAU (Linux Audio Users). And if not I'm
still getting very good information from LAD just by reading despite the
fact that I've never written an audio application. Nobody cares and
certainly nobody feels offended or like his time wasted.
