Hi, Leanne,
        I, too am hearing a lot on feeding "hot" foods to pups whether or not
they are of giant breeds; many nutritionists are saying that it is not a
great idea. They are now telling owners to raise puppies on high
quality adult diets (with sufficient nutrients, but not OVERLY hot).
I'm sure you know how this works better than I do; the tissue and bone
don't grow at the same rate with hot foods, so problems of all sorts
result, including turned feet. Pat Hastings has been saying this for
some time now; she worked in a dog food company and did a study of
nutrition at one point. In her evaluation procedure, there is a point
during which she has the evaluator look for nutritional defects;
apparently one CAN correct such problems IF the food is changed soon
enough before the growth plates close.

I believe this and feed food with NRC adult requirements to puppies.
