Hi folks, WOW! I had nothing to do today and after reading all the postings,
I just wanted to provide another opinion. My wife wants me to clarify that
this is my posting. Myra, this is not directed at your posting, however I do
share many of your feelings and statements within your postings regarding
dogs, clubs, ethics and ect.

This will be long winded and is our story on getting into Cavaliers.
Everyone should first understand that to me this is all about the beautiful
breed, people and friendships, not clubs and agendas. We got our first
Cavalier as a result of loosing a pet. We went or should I clarify Toni
"dragged me to AKC shows to look at different breeds she was interested in".
While at Long Beach three years ago Toni saw Andy and that was it. For the
next six months Toni began her research and her search for her Cavalier.
After many conversations with breeders, we had our lucky day. We got our
first Cavalier from a recommendation by a breeder outside of our breed. At
that time we knew nothing about the Old Club, New Club, CKCSC or AKC except
AKC is where we saw Cavaliers. WOW, little did we know at that time how
fortunate we were as first time purchasers when we got our boy from a breeder
in Nebraska.

I will leave out a lot of the next two years of our joy and experiences with
this wonderful breed and will tell you folks some of my thoughts. We belong
to both clubs. I look at both clubs as a social event, a place for meeting
new people, talking to friends and seeing the breed. Of course standards
come into place in each organization and we have had to filter out what is
important to us. This is a great hobby, not a business and should be a place
hopefully, for all to have fun and meet new and old aquaintances. It is
important to remember new people to this breed know very little about all the
past differences. This should be about the love of the breed and breeding
for the improvement of the breed. I see good breeding and bad breeding with
CKCSC and AKC. I see nice dogs and bitches in CKCSC and AKC. Since 90% of
CKCSC owners show their dogs and bitches in AKC at some point I feel I have
seen 90% of the best in both CKCSC and AKC. Would'nt it be great if all
could stop throwing stones at each other.

It is really up to each individual to determine what they want and get from
each organization. I have met people in both and developed friendships. I
tell new people who ask me that they should probably join both organizations
even if they have an AKC only dog or bitch. I have two great friendships
with two of the 12 and would never trade that friendship for CKCSC or AKC, if
I got out of the breed they would still be great friends While we still
consider ourselves novices please do not think that because we only have two
years in this breed that we are not very aware of our responsibility to
enhance the breed . Anyone who has taken the time to get to know us and
explore our interests quickly discovers that Toni spends a great deal of time
researching and studying diets and health issues with regards to the needs of
the breed. We still rely on our friendships and with the experience of you
and other breeders who have been in this hobby for many years, to help
provide information and support.

I hope that in the near future new owners both pet and show, both CKCSC and
AKC, can just enjoy the fun and friendship of this wonderful breed. No new
breed owners should have to be caught up or paried into clubs or groups.
Myra, you're correct it is an individual choice and hopefully our breed will
someday not be involved in "you can not breed here or there" and that
breeders will breed to enhance the breed and work blood lines of their choice
that enhance their breeding programs. Today we have two boys and three girls
and are having fun. We thank our breeders for providing us with sound advice
and appreciate their continued help and support.

Sorry I told you it would be long winded, hope to meet you some day.
