Ooops. I put my foot into it and I apologize. I was not suggesting that
the approach Susan suggested was inappropriate, only that I am not a
believer in this approach. And I was merely offering another way to handle
to the problem. I am not saying that my way is right and another's way is
wrong. Actually, whatever works is probably the right way. We all have to
do what we feel comfortable with and I, over the years, have moved away from
the use of punishment in modifying undesirable behaviors. Or at least I
try. It is a training philosophy. For those who are interested in this
philosophy, Karen Pryor's "Don't Shoot the Horse" is an excellent resource.
