Thanks for all of the input on dog litter. We find that puppies love to
tear up the newspaper in their play pen and that staying ahead of the
shredded newspaper and "deposits" is at times almost impossible. This is
why we thought about trying the dog litter. It also seemed to me that
litter trianed puppies might be easier to house break as the new owners
could simply place a little litter at the "potty spot" of their choice in
the yard and perhaps train the puppy to go in the same place fairly readily
- reducing wear and tear on grass etc.
We have tried the wee pads - by the way Phyllis, you will surely find that
the ones for humans are far less expensive than the ones for puppies - once
your puppies are used to the set-up, you won't need the odor impregnated
puppy pads. We had tried these, but the Cavalier puppies had a ball with
them - of course, we did not use your tray method, which sounds like a good
one....seems a shame to deprive the pups of the fun of chasing after each
other with long streamers of blue plastic trailing behind....made for a
great game of chase!
