Well there is a surprise. I also have been corresponding with this
gentleman for about the same length of time. All his e-mails have been
private ones and I did not realise he was corresponding with others. I
have given information on cage rest and suggested that the vets seem to
be doing what is normal for back problems. I have also tried to get
information for him on a problem a friend had with her dog. I too feel
for him and guess he is doing all he can for his dog and is getting very
frustrated by lack of answers.

The tests and treatment he is getting is exactly that which I would
expect in this case. Loss of effective use in back legs can be spinal
cord related. It could also be muscle wastage that some dogs suffer
late in life, people will term it "gone off their back legs". Ben is a
bit too young for this to be the likely condition. It may depend on how
he was looked after in his younger years. John, the owner has only
taken him on in the last eighteen months so will be unlikely to know the
full history. He could have had a poor start in life and is paying the
price for that now with a weakness in this area.

I too hope he gets some answers that will improve the situation for Ben.
