Hilary, my info is anecdotal. There have been three of my dogs that the
buyer used Intercept or Sentinel and the dogs had a sort of "out of body",
trance-like seizure within three days of getting the monthly dose. The dog
looked fine but did not respond to voices or anything--- just sat there
spaced out, it was like it was on a drug "trip". They changed to Heartguard
and the dog was fine after that, no more seizures.

It may be that it is a chance thing, just like Aimee being allergic to
penicillin. Never had a dog allergic to penicillin before or after. Who can
tell? But we have had three that have had a reaction to other heartworm
preventions. We've NEVER had a reaction with Heartguard. That is why I now
have instructions on my puppy booklet that Heartguard is the ONLY heartworm
preventative that I recommend for my line. Once could be a chance thing,
three is a little to much evidence for me, even if it is anecdotal.
All the best,
Susan Cochran
