AH............this is so true.  Those soulful eyes get you every time if
you aren't really strong minded about it.
        To put this in perspective.....the half of my dogs on Red Barn food get
approximately (depending on the dog's metabolism) 6 ounces per DAY or
three ounces per meal. It is a food that does put on weight if one uses
with approximation, so we weigh the food. They also get Mother Hubbard
cookies (about 3-4 small ones per day and one half large one at night).
That's IT.  No tidbits from the table (I actually dislike begging dogs
at dinner so they aren't allowed near the table but for one very
obedient older dog) are ever given. Bait or treats are counted as part
of their calorie ration, so those going to handling class aren't fed
dinner.
        So, perhaps your advice is good then.  For those who can't resist over
indulging their Cavaliers I suggest that a Cavalier LOVES a good walk as
much as a good meal. <VBG>
