I agree with Chere that this should be a personal preference.  I personally,
do not remove dew claws since I do not like to perform any elective
procedures on a young pup. There is always a risk of an infection with any
break of the protective skin barrier...even under the best conditions.  And
yes... I know it is a very, very low risk...but a risk is a risk.  All risks
needs to be balanced with the direct benefits.  At this time I do not see
any great benefits of removing dew claws.  If I read of conclusive proof of
the direct benefits for a CKCS and these benefits outweigh the risks...I
will reconsider my personal preference.
