There is a condition that is not unknown to Cavalier called myositis. It is
when the jaw locks and it is a terrible autoimmune condition. Several years
ago a friends' daugher had a Cavalier with that condition. No vets had the
faintest idea what it was and neither did most of the other breeders I called
(except Ann Thaeder who remembered reading about it.) I did learn a little
about it in the 2 years they struggled to keep her going, but she eventually
died of respiratory failure related to the myositis. I hope whatever dog you
are referring to does not have this problem but if it is a possibility I can
get you information for the vet to better help in a diagnosis. (The
veterinary hospital they went to, a large facitlity of specialists, seemed to
think that it was a concern primarily in large dogs like shepards and never
even considered it.)
