Hi,

A puppy we placed as a pet has been diagnosed with demodectic mange,
otherwise known as puppy mange. Supposedly the mite that causes this is
common in virtually all dogs, but most do not develop the disease. The puppy
is otherwise very healthy, active, eats well and is well adjusted. She is 13
weeks old and the owner noticed that she had a couple of very small thin
spots on her forehead. She has been to her vet who told her it is common in
purebred dogs and nothing to worry about. She gave her ointment for the
spots on her forehead. However, the articles on the internet about
Demodectic mange are quite frightening and propose that there could be
serious underlying causes such as a poor immune system, Cushings disease or
cancer.

This is the first time I have experienced this. Have any of you
experienced this? Any advice for the owner?

Thanks

Donna Burdett
