Sharona, I saw it in a video lecture for Psychology class. It is proven that all infant mammals need this sort of handling. With human premies, the nurses do full body massage at least four times a day. With the research mice, the laboratory workers used the blusher brush at least four times a day. The experiment compared the weight gain of mice who got the brush treatment to those who did not. The difference in weight gain was marked and even extended to adolescence. Some of the mice who removed from their mom and were not given the handling or brush treatment did not survive. There was plenty of food available, but not stimulation. All the best, Susan Cochran
