If I only had two or three dogs, a barker would not be much of a problem. However, I have more like eight cavaliers and seven greyhounds. Greyhounds are nearly silent as a rule, however, cavaliers are not. Most of mine are quite tolerable but those two boys are chronic barkers. Because I adore them, I do not want to send them away to a new home, but I also don't want them to send me away to a new home. Debarking IS a last resort and it is not inhumane and certainly not barbaric. Barbarians wouldn't care about bothering others.
