So what's wrong with managing our pets for our benefit? Aren't they
supposed to enrich our lives, not be a burden? I love my dogs and have made
many a sacrifice for them both financially and personally. However, I do
live in the city, work all day and have to consider the neighbors, get my
sleep, etc. If I had a seriously chronic barker that no other means solved
the problem, why would having it debarked be so awful? How is debarking
harming the dog, if it is done properly by an experienced surgeon? Why does
one assume that a debarked dog is not happy? I have never had to debark a
dog, but I have know a few that were and none of them seemed the worse for
their experience. All happily barked silently, frequently.
