Dave...In my opinion it IS for the mutual benefit of man and dog . Dogs are extremely sensitive to their owners emotions and I'm sure your dog knows when you are irritated with her. Even if you are truly sainted and never feel irritated with her barking, there must be others in your household who do react negatively to her noise. How sad for her to know that people are not happy with her behavior. If she was debarked, she could follow her barking star to her heart's content knowing that everyone in her household was contented with a quieter household.
