A cat with claws that cause trouble for the owners is different from a dog who causes trouble for everyone else too. Heaven forbid your cat goes next-door to bother your neighbors' drapes and furniture. I would not declaw a cat because it has very little defense without its claws. Dogs are not bothered at all to bark quietly. And every dog on my place gets lots of attention but they do not all live in the house.
